Layouts based on sketches

Glued to the tube

October 12, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 1 Comment

Glued to the tube is a one-photo scrapbook page using BasicGrey's Highline collection.

This 1978 photo, which captures a very ordinary moment in a child’s life, makes me extraordinarily happy. It reminds me how fortunate I am to have this lifelong friendship with my brother. Love you, Philly!

Product/technique notes

I followed My Scraps & More sketch #115 and used the BasicGrey Highline collection. I painted the title with watercolors and scanned it to create the Silhouette cut file.

Bonnie & Clyde: DT layout for Stuck?! Sketches

Stuck?! Sketches October 1, 2015 sketch

When we were growing up we didn’t have pets, but we were very lucky that our neighbors on either side of us had them. Clyde belonged to the Hinkles, who lived to our left. He was an indoor-outdoor tabby cat, and he didn’t seem to like people much when he and I got a little older. But when we were both at the tender age you see here (he looks like a kitten to me in this 1968 photo), it seems we got along famously.

Product/technique notes

The patterned papers are from the Doodlebug Designs Happy Harvest collection, the journaling cards are from Little Yellow Bicycle and the glitter cat-themed stickers are from The Paper Studio. I hand-stitched the circles and designed and cut the title on the Silhouette.

Third grade portraits

September 27, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 5 Comments

Third grade portraits is a scrapbook page based on a ScrapMuch? September sketch.

I contemplated titling this page “Disco school portraits.” I mean, get a load of those collars! And my brother’s leisure suit. And my pin-curled hair. There’s an awful lot going on here, so I’ll just leave you to your open-mouthed staring.

😉

Product/technique notes

I followed this September 25th ScrapMuch? sketch, and I used patterned papers from the American Crafts Nightfall collection, die cuts from Maggie Holmes and a piece of flair from Studio Calico. The alphabet across the top is a Silhouette cut file.

Make mine a double

September 26, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 5 Comments

Make mine a double is a one-photo scrapbook layout based on a ScrapMuch? September sketch.

It doesn’t feel much like fall yet in Austin, Texas, so I have to get my cozy feelings from a mug of pumpkin spice tea spiked with pumpkin spice creamer. Here’s to the first taste of pumpkin flavor in the fall. Yum-tastic!

Product/technique notes

I followed this ScrapMuch? September 11 sketch and used papers from the 6×6 Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go pad.

So very Kerry

September 22, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 4 Comments

So very Kerry is a scrapbook layout based on the My Scraps and More September sketch.

I met my friend Kerry on my first day of grad school at Ohio University in January 1993. Then she was an important part of our wedding in 1997. In these September 11, 2000 photos, Matt and I had flown up to visit Kerry for a long weekend in Wisconsin, where she was teaching at Marquette University. We had a wonderful time touring the area, eating out and catching up.

Product/technique notes

I followed this My Scraps & More sketch and used patterned papers from the 6×6 DCWV Latte stack and 3D stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle. I added a little hand stitching, too, like I do.
