You are awesome

May 16, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo Leave a Comment

This is a clean and simple one-photo design using the ombre effect.

This is a photo of our sweetheart, Liam, at three months of age. How about that bold stare? He still has those amazing baby blue eyes.

Product/technique notes

I created this layout to participate in a monochromatic/ombre challenge at A Cherry on Top, in which they required the use of only one color (other than black and white) in at least three shades. No other colors (except in your photos) was allowed. That is not as easy as it may sound! I found my papers in 6×6 paper pads by American Crafts, BasicGrey and My Mind’s Eye. I created the title with a free cut file that I offered on my blog a few weeks ago. Here it is again, in case you missed it.

We are family: Happy Mother’s Day

May 10, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 1 Comment

This two-photo scrapbook layout celebrates my mom and our family.

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of family and a loving home base in our lives. These two are my home base (since we lost Daddy in 2004). I love them immeasurably.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mommy and all of those who fill a mother role in someone’s life. I hope your day is lovely and love-filled.

The photos are from the summer of 2013, when I visited Mom and Phil in Chapel Hill, NC.

Product/technique notes

This layout was really fun to create! I strung crochet thread across the page in a 2×2-inch grid, then added the photos over the grid and the patterned paper under it. The paper is from Echo Park’s “We Are Family” 6×6 pad. The flair is from Studio Calico.

Thankful for such happy days together

May 8, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo Leave a Comment

This is a one-page, one-photo scrapbook page using My Mind's Eye products.

This photos is from a really happy time. It was Easter in 1992, and I was living back at home with Mom and Dad in Willoughby and working as a conference planner at ASM International. Spenser was just over a year old and was a pure joy in our lives. Although Phil was living in Pennsylvania, he had come home to spend Easter with us. So things were pretty great.

This photo reminds me to be thankful for happy days.

Product/technique notes

I created this layout using products from the My Mind’s Eye Now & Then > Ginger collection.

First Communion 1975

May 3, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo Leave a Comment

This 2-page, 8-photo scrapbook layout documents my First Communion in 1975.

Phil and I made our First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 3, 1975—40 years ago today!

I remember so much about that special day. My mom made my beautiful dress. Fr. Francis Curran, our pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, celebrated the Mass. And I was so happy that all our relatives came for our big day.

Product/technique notes

I used patterned papers from the My Mind’s Eye “stella & rose » gertie” collection and cut a title with my Silhouette. With all the patterns plus eight photos, I decided to keep this design simple.

Date night

May 2, 2015 By Janice Daquila-Pardo Leave a Comment

This is a 1-page, 3-photo scrapbook page made with Simple Stories supplies.

Sometimes it’s just fun to capture a few selfies while you’re out on a date. Am I right?

Although when I jumped over to Matt’s side of the table for the shot of the two of us, an older man at a nearby table gave me a dirty look. I wanted to yell over, “At least I’m not too old to have fun, you grump!” But you’ll be proud of me; I was good and just smiled at him.

Product/technique notes

Most of the elements on my page are from Simple Stories “Snap Life” collection, and the paper bag is from Jillibean Soup. I decided I wanted an arrow to connect the title to the “good stuff” card, so I doodled a quick guide and stitched away. I like how it brought it all together.
