Spenser had me wrapped around his little paw from the second we met.

The 19th sketch challenge has been posted at the SCRAP & MUSIC challenge blog! Head over to the site to grab the sketch and play along. This sketch came with the song “Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran.

Scrap & Music sketch #19

My layout

Our family adopted our precious puppy, Spenser, in early 1991. I loved cuddling with him so much. These two photos are of us spooning on the couch in the fall of 1991, so Spenser would have been six months old in the left picture and seven months old in the right one. The line “Cover me up, cuddle me in” from the challenge song was a perfect fit for my title.

Product/technique notes

I used several patterns from the Pebbles “Walnut Grove” 6×6 paper pad to create the layers on this design, and the background is from the My Mind’s Eye “Cut & Paste” collection.

The challenge

The challenges on this blog involve following the sketch and using a title on your layout with a line from the provided music. Below I’ve included the video as well as the lyrics for this song:

“Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran

Settle down with me
Cover me up, cuddle me in
Lie down with me, yeah
And hold me in your arms

And your heart’s against my chest
Your lips pressed to my neck
I’m falling for your eyes but they don’t know me yet
And with a feeling I’ll forget, I’m in love now

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved, you wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love, we’re falling in love

Settle down with me
And I’ll be your safety, you’ll be my lady
I was made to keep your body warm
But I’m cold as the wind blows
So hold me in your arms

My heart’s against your chest
Your lips pressed to my neck
I’m falling for your eyes but they don’t know me yet
And with this feeling I’ll forget, I’m in love now

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved, you wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love, we’re falling in love

Yeah I’ve been feeling everything
From hate to love, from love to lust, from lust to truth
I guess that’s how I know you
So hold you close to help you give it up

So kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved, you wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love, we’re falling in love

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved, you wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love, we’re falling in love

I love this layout too. Great example of layering. The patterns are cool. Did you cut the layering papers by hand (with scissors I mean), or another way? I hope that doesn’t sound like a stupid question I’m still kinda new and trying to pick up tips and tricks. Thanks. Michelle t

It’s not a stupid question, Michelle! I cut most straight edges for my pages with my paper trimmer because it’s more likely to actually be straight and it’s faster (I use the Fiskars SureCut Deluxe). But then I use scissors to cut the banner edges and other little special areas. Welcome to the wonderful world of scrapbooking! And thanks for your comment. 🙂
