Concert club: DT layout for Stuck?! Sketches

June 1, 2017 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 1 Comment

Concert club

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our first challenge of June! Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from The ScrapRoom and Crafty Ribbons.

The story

Recently we decided to donate to public radio because of the Trump administration’s proposed budget cuts to…everything except the military and the US/Mexico border wall. For our donor gift they enrolled us in the KUTX Concert Club. So now we get invited to occasional concerts in their live recording studio. This was the first one we were able to make it downtown for—Matthew Logan Vasquez. What a nice evening out for a Monday!

Product/technique notes

The background papers are from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection, and the others patterns and die cuts are from the Amy Tangerine Better Together 6×6 paper pad. The yellow alphas in the title and the XO journaling card are by Jillibean Soup.

Lucky in love is lucky enough

May 19, 2017 By Janice Daquila-Pardo Leave a Comment

The story

I ran across this quote about love on Pinterest and thought it would make the perfect title for a page about my honey. I took this photo of Matt on Thanksgiving in 2009.

Product/technique notes

I used patterns and die cuts from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection, and I cut the title on my Silhouette.

Stop & smell the roses: DT layout for Stuck?! Sketches

May 15, 2017 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 1 Comment

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our second challenge of May! Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from Charms Creations and Wycinanka.

The story

I’m not that good at taking selfies, obviously. But every so often I try anyway. This is one I took in our back yard in March 2015, and I just thought it would be great to use it to remind myself to slow down and take note of the good stuff in life.

Product/technique notes

The background paper I used is from Jillibean Soup, and the other patterns are from Pink Paislee’s Take Me Away 6×6 paper pad. I stamped the rose with the Hampton Arts layering roses set. And the bird die cut is from Dear Lizzy.

Stuck?! Sketches sketch for May 1, 2017

The story

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I chose to scrap this Mother’s Day photo from 1984. We were visiting our grandparents in Pennsylvania for the holiday weekend, and Aunt Nancy, one of Nana’s sisters, came by for a visit. Even while Phil and I were in high school, I always loved to go for a visit with Nana and Papa.

Product/technique notes

I used the Like a Girl collection from Photo Play Paper for everything on this page except the teal glitter hearts and X, which are by Thickers.

Easter memories 1968

Easter Memories Duffys 1968

The story

I have this wonderful photo of my dad’s older sister’s family (the Duffys) on Easter morning in 1968. All the families are just back from Easter mass and gathered at Nana and Papa’s house. How much do you love their Easter clothes and hats? What a beautiful family.

Happy Easter Sunday to all!

Product/technique notes

I used patterned papers from the BasicGrey Knee Highs collection. The chipboard diecuts are from Crate Paper, and the paper diecuts are from My Mind’s Eye. The glitter “memories” is a Thickers word from American Crafts.
