Play with color

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our mid-month challenge. Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from ScrapMatts and Flutterby Designs.

Stuck?! Sketches April 15 2017

The story

Our grandparents on Mom’s side of the family lived far away in California, so it was a big deal when they visited. This Easter photo with Grandma is from their 1983 visit to Ohio.

Product/technique notes

The background papers are from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection, to which I added pearlized white texture paste through a stencil. The rest of the patterned papers are from the American Crafts Welcome Spring 6×6 paper pad. I altered the original silver color of the glitter Thickers word “play” with distress ink and a blending tool. The diecuts are from Fancy Pants.

Re-homing Hector

Re-homing Hector

The story

We found this beautiful beastie walking down the sidewalk on our street, far from any water. So we scooped him up and gave him a ride out to Brushy Creek. We named him Hector and wished him a happy, healthy life before Matt turned toward the water and tossed him in. I was shocked that he didn’t just put Hector near the water and let him decide whether to go in, and I said so. Matt blanched when he realized that he had just assumed that Hector swam. We quickly researched what kind of turtle he was and were greatly relieved to learn that he was a red-eared slider. Thank goodness, they’re strong swimmers!

Product/technique notes

The patterned papers are from the Pebbles Lakeside 6×6 paper pad. I cut out the title on my Silhouette, and I hand stitched the zigzag stitch down the center.

Stuck?! Sketches April 1 2017

The story

Isn’t this a darling picture of my brother and me? We are posing in our back yard after coming home from Sunday morning Mass in May 1974. Just so sweet.

Product/technique notes

The papers are from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection. The tag is from We R Memory Keepers. And I created the string art heart with the help of my Silhouette to cut out the tiny stitching circles.

Sweet dreams are made of this

Sweet dreams are made of this

The story

Mom’s sweet tooth is epic. I remember when we were kids we would catch her eating a couple of cookies first thing in the morning to tide her over until breakfast (cereal). And I would say that her love of sugary stuff has only grown over the years, if that’s possible.

Thanks to my bro for snapping this photo of Mom at McDonald’s last March so I could document her sweet nature. 😉

Product/technique notes

Patterned papers are from Authentique and American Crafts.
