Stuck?! Sketches August 15, 2017

The story

For so many reasons, Phil and I were extremely fortunate to have attended college together. One of the many graces of being there for the same degree at the same time was that we knew so many of the same people. It meant a lot that we could hang out with them then, just as it means a lot that we can reminisce about them together now.

These photos are on the Ohio University campus in June 1989 after our commencement ceremony, with our friends Rich O, Phil M, and Dave K.

Product/technique notes

Most of the patterned papers on my page came from the Memorandum collection by Pink Paislee, but the pattern in the top left portion of the background is a 2009 paper from BasicGrey’s Basics White collection. I cut the feather outlines with various Silhouette store designs. The title is made up of Thickers (black) and Jillibean Soup (yellow).

Stuck?! Sketches August 1, 2017

The story

Phil does Web project work for UNC’s Information Technology Services, and this year he has taken on a specialization in Web accessibility. He loves talking about what he’s learning almost as much as he loves learning it, so he was thrilled to be asked to speak at July’s Freaky Friday ITS update meeting.

Seated next to him in the right-hand photo are Kate and Kim. Phil’s friend, Kelly, took the photos.

Product/technique notes

Everything on my page came from the Spicy Social Soup collection by Jillibean Soup. I designed and cut the title on my Silhouette.

Concert club: DT layout for Stuck?! Sketches

June 1, 2017 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 1 Comment

Concert club

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our first challenge of June! Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from The ScrapRoom and Crafty Ribbons.

The story

Recently we decided to donate to public radio because of the Trump administration’s proposed budget cuts to…everything except the military and the US/Mexico border wall. For our donor gift they enrolled us in the KUTX Concert Club. So now we get invited to occasional concerts in their live recording studio. This was the first one we were able to make it downtown for—Matthew Logan Vasquez. What a nice evening out for a Monday!

Product/technique notes

The background papers are from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection, and the others patterns and die cuts are from the Amy Tangerine Better Together 6×6 paper pad. The yellow alphas in the title and the XO journaling card are by Jillibean Soup.

Smiles from ear to ear

Stuck?! Sketches March 1 2017 sketch

The story

Our family flew out to California in the summer of 1976 to visit my maternal grandparents and aunt and uncle. I was 9 years old, so days like the one we spent at Disneyland really stand out in my memory of that family vacation.

File this under magic.

Product/technique notes

All the patterned papers I used were from the Simple Stories Say Cheese II collection.

Good times 1992

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our first challenge of February. Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from Charms Creations and Cuts2Luv.

Stuck?! Sketches February 1 2017 sketch

The story

In the early 90s my brother was living in a borough near Pittsburgh called Wilkinsburg. On a pretty weekend sometime in 1992 (not sure what time of year, but our clothes make me think it was early spring), our family went by to pick up Mom’s Aunt Mary Lou and made a road trip to visit him there. We snapped these photos at a park near his apartment.

#goodtimes

Product/technique notes

All the products I used were from the Fancy Pants Millie and June collection, except for the title, which is composed of American Crafts Thickers.
