Stuck?! Sketches July 1, 2017

The story

My mom tells me that I was extremely excited to get my first bikini, which I always referred to as my piece babing suit.

In this darling 1970 photo, Phil and I are sunning and swimming at the city’s baby pool in our home town.

Product/technique notes

Everything on the page came from the Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection.

Sunshine Equals Happiness: DT layout for Stuck?! Sketches

June 15, 2017 By Janice Daquila-Pardo 4 Comments

Sunshine = Happiness

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our second challenge of June! Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from ScrapMatts and Lindy’s Stamp Gang.

Stuck?! Sketches June 15, 2017 sketch

The story

A bright sunshiny day in Ohio: My mom’s aunt and uncle came for a visit from California in the summer of 1970 (or maybe 1971—the date was unfortunately not on the back of the photo). That’s Uncle Vic talking to my dad in the background and me and Phil posing for the camera in the foreground. From the looks of it, they have their huge station wagon packed up in readiness to head home.

Product/technique notes

I used papers from Pink Paislee’s Citrus Twist collection and die cuts from Dear Lizzy’s Happy Place. The flair is from an ancient pack of American Crafts pieces.

With brave wings she flies

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our first challenge of May! Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from The Scraproom and Accent Scrapbooking.

Stuck?! Sketches sketch for May 1, 2017

The story

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I chose to scrap this Mother’s Day photo from 1984. We were visiting our grandparents in Pennsylvania for the holiday weekend, and Aunt Nancy, one of Nana’s sisters, came by for a visit. Even while Phil and I were in high school, I always loved to go for a visit with Nana and Papa.

Product/technique notes

I used the Like a Girl collection from Photo Play Paper for everything on this page except the teal glitter hearts and X, which are by Thickers.

Easter Memories Duffys 1968

The story

I have this wonderful photo of my dad’s older sister’s family (the Duffys) on Easter morning in 1968. All the families are just back from Easter mass and gathered at Nana and Papa’s house. How much do you love their Easter clothes and hats? What a beautiful family.

Happy Easter Sunday to all!

Product/technique notes

I used patterned papers from the BasicGrey Knee Highs collection. The chipboard diecuts are from Crate Paper, and the paper diecuts are from My Mind’s Eye. The glitter “memories” is a Thickers word from American Crafts.

Play with color

Today Stuck?! Sketches launches our mid-month challenge. Grab the sketch and play along for prizes from ScrapMatts and Flutterby Designs.

Stuck?! Sketches April 15 2017

The story

Our grandparents on Mom’s side of the family lived far away in California, so it was a big deal when they visited. This Easter photo with Grandma is from their 1983 visit to Ohio.

Product/technique notes

The background papers are from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection, to which I added pearlized white texture paste through a stencil. The rest of the patterned papers are from the American Crafts Welcome Spring 6×6 paper pad. I altered the original silver color of the glitter Thickers word “play” with distress ink and a blending tool. The diecuts are from Fancy Pants.
