Blogtoberfest Day 31

On this final day of my Blogtoberfest celebration, I have some exciting things to share. First is the announcement of my two Blogtoberfest Anniversary Giveaway winners. I used the random number generator to arrive at the winning comments. I’m sending the lucky winners listed below an email about this; please respond with your home address so I can mail off your prizes. I really hope you enjoy them! And thank you to everyone who played along by leaving a comment. ๐Ÿ™‚ I enjoyed reading about your plans for costumes this Halloween.

Forever Fall giveaway

The Forever Fall giveaway package goes to…Tiffany M.!
“I will not be dressing up for Halloween. It is enough for me to dress my two kids and to take them out for trick or treating. They are always great photo subjects. :-)”

Autumn Splendor giveaway

And the Autumn Splendor giveaway goes to…Chari!
“Happy Blogoversary!! I donโ€™t think I will be dressing up this year, we donโ€™t have any plans. But then again, we didnโ€™t have any plans last year either and we all dressed up and went to the Piano Bar at the Grove Park Inn and my husband won the costume contest so who knows what this year may have in store for us!”

Guest designing at Sketch Support

I have actually been waiting all year for November to arrive! Yes, I adore autumn. And oh, how I love Thanksgiving. I even love that November brings my birthday with it. But the real reason for my excitement this November is that I am the guest designer on the Sketch Support site!

Sketch Support blog

I love the sketches at Sketch Support as well as the help and inspiration they provide on their site. Please join me this month over at their blog, as we reveal new sketches and designs for a card, a two-page layout, a one-page layout and an add-on design. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hand over the candy

Blogtoberfest Day 30

Don’t miss out on my GIVEAWAY (closes 12:00 midnight EST tonight)!

Sketchabilities has revealed its latest sketch, #58. Be sure to head over to the site to grab the sketch, then create something and link it up! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s my Design Team layout inspired by the sketch.

HandOver_Daquila-Pardo

It's 1976, and I'm the hobo holding up Phil the cop for his candy. ๐Ÿ™‚

The year is 1976, and Phil and I are dressed as a hobo and a police officer. Our costumes are from the “things from around the house” school of fashion. Phil’s outfit is basically his school uniform—navy pants, light blue shirt and navy tie. Plus he wore a toy gun and badge. My costume was Daddy’s bandana-patterned fishing hat, one of his old shirts and some makeup to make my face look dirty. Easy and convincing, right?

I think my dramatic side is starting to emerge here, as I stage a hold up for the camera. And I just love that flummoxed look on Phil’s face!

Urban pumpkin patch

Blogtoberfest Day 29

Don’t miss out on my GIVEAWAY (closes 12:00 midnight EST on Sunday, October 30th)!

My layout today is based on a wonderful sketch provided on the PageMaps blog. And I will be entering it into the Studio Purge Sketch Contest at that site.

My journaling reads, “The closest nice pumpking patch—with all the fun of hay rides, corn mazes, face painting and petting zoos—is an hour away. So I usually just grab our pumpkins at WalMart. But this year we went to Whole Foods, where they had a cute little “patch” set up in front of the store. We seized this photo opportunity!”

We just bought our pumpkins for the season at Whole Foods, but we still captured the event in photos.

Eat, drink & be scary

Blogtoberfest Day 28

Don’t miss out on my GIVEAWAY (closes 12:00 midnight EST on Sunday, October 30th)!

Today, in honor of Halloween, I decided to challenge myself by doing something that I find scary. I pulled out an art supply that I bought years ago but have never used! I’ve had a set of Perfect Pearls in my stash for quite a while, but because I’ve been a little intimidated by them they’ve remained in the drawer.

But today I stamped the skull on the card below with watermark ink and dusted on the Perfect Pearls according to the directions. And the results are beautiful (although it’s very hard to photograph the luster).

Now that I’ve tried them, I honestly don’t know why I thought they would be difficult to use. There was nothing to it! So, I challenge you to buck up and try something that you’ve thought was intimidating. Face your fears. ๐Ÿ˜‰ {Cue wolf howling.}

I pulled out my old Perfect Pearls to make this card.

Halloweenies

The costumes we saw that night were so fun!

Today’s layout uses photos from Halloween 2005, when Matt and I darkened the lights on our own house so we could help our neighbors hand out their treats. Norm and Linda, the neighbors right across the street from us, hosted their church’s Halloween outreach effort. From their driveway we served up more than 600 Halloweenies, otherwise known as hotdogs (and we ran out)! We also handed out lemonade, candy and children’s church stories. It was amazing to see so many people come out for this. It was a beautiful night full of fun.
